Rs 550 per 10,000 liter tanker says PHED Minister

IMPHAL, June 11: Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar raised a question in the House today asking the government rate of drinking water per 10,000 litres tanker saying the public are buying drinking water privately at the rate of Rs 1200 per 10,000 litres tanker.
Answering the question, PHED Minister I Hemochandra Singh said that the 10,000 litres water tanker when bought from the PHED cost only Rs 550.
MLA Th Shyamkumar Singh further asked the PHED Minister from where exactly he can get the drinking water of 10,000 litres tanker at the rate of Rs 550 saying he wanted to buy water at that rate.
Joining in the question hour, MLA L Ibomcha Singh said that he also buys drinking water at the rate of Rs 1000 or Rs 1200 per 10,000 litres tanker.
The PHED Minister further answering the question said that the state government has no provision to provide drinking water tanker by tanker to all the constituencies however; there are policies of the state government to fulfil the drinking water demands in the state.
The policies are National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) (Central & State), Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR), Special Plan Assistance (SPA), Special Development Fund (SDF), NEC Projects, Imphal Water Supply & Other Towns and Urban Infra-Structure Development Schemes for small and Medium Town (UIDSSMT), he said.
The Minister also said that the PHED does not have enough water tankers to provide drinking water to the entire general public.
