“Wait to Pay, Go to Work” for Kangpokpi Anganwadi Workers and Helpers

KANGPOKPI, June 11: The honorarium of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers under Integrated Child Development Scheme, Kangpokpi has not been paid for one complete year with effect from June last year.
Some Anganwadi Workers and Helpers told this correspondent, “Every time we inquired for our honorarium, the answer is the same ‘Just wait, you are going to get soon, work properly’ .”
One Anganwadi staff said, “We are working wholeheartedly without any heated complaints though our honorarium has not been paid for one whole year”.
Another Anganwadi worker said, “We might resort to any kind of agitation to draw the attention of the concerned authority and the CDPO in particular”.
Meanwhile, one Anganwadi helper said that, children as well as their parents complained about the sub-standard quality of the food items being provided to the children adding that they feel awkward and shy to provide such sub-standard quality food items to the children.
Mention may be made that, recently during a surprised visit paid to every Govt Department in and around Kangpokpi by the Kangpokpi Youth Union, the Child Development Project Officer of ICDS, Kangpokpi was found to be irregular in attendance.
Alleging that ICDS Kangpokpi is one of the most irregular department among the Government department located in and around Kangpokpi town, the youth union has also warned to take up suitable action against all such departments that has ignored the request of the Union.
They further inform all the head of departments, concerned authority and the general public to render positive cooperation to the Union.
