IMPHAL, September 22: A public meeting was convened by Keirao Kendra Minority Muslim Development Organisation (KKMMDO) at Keirao Litan to discuss why less funds were availed by the Kendra under the Central government’s Multi Sectoral Development Programme (MSDP).
It was presided by KKMMDO Chief Advisor cum Pangal Political Forum spokesperson MI Khan who said that MSDP which is under the Prime Minister 15 point programme was taken up for the welfare of Muslims in the country. He said that in the state, for Andro, Rs 650 lakh was sanctioned and asked why the Keirao Kedra MLA could manage only Rs 50 lakh as the number of Muslims in Andro is not more than that of Keirao. When approached, instead of saying that development programs of the Kendra will be looked into, negotiation with money was made and for this reason, a PIL will be made at Gauhati High Court and preparations are on to approach even the Supreme Court, he related.
The meeting also took resolutions including condemning the representative of the Kendra for not concerned with the welfare of the people and clarification sought from the concerned within five days for inability to ask for required funds based on population of minority Muslims and if unable to provide the same, boycotting of the MLA, inclusion of development projects of GPs which are lacking in many aspects under MSDP openly in consultation with KKMMDO and the people and handing over of the responsibility to approach law court to KKMMDO and Social Worker MI Khan.
