PDS items given as Cheiraoba 'gifts'


IMPHAL, April 10: Items under Public Distribution System (PDS) sugar and rice were distributed free of cost in connection with the occasion of 'Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba' to the weaker Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families of 19/11 Patsoi Assembly Constituency.

Speaking at the function Kongjengbam Candle, Executive Member of the Co-ordinating Committee of United (CCU) Sapam Leirak Patsoi Kendra and Agent of Fair Price Shop 19/11 said that the PDS items which were distributed today  is for March month. He said that the delay was to hand them over as 'gifts' on the occasion of Cheiraoba.

He further expressed his opinion that the indigenous festivals of the state must be preserved  for the future generations.

Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai who was present at the simple function extended her wishes on account of Cheiroba wishing for a better and prosperous society to the people of Manipur and also to the public of her constituency.

In her speech, she said, " We need to develop a work culture for a better and prosperous future of the society.We should always try to avoid the words which can hurt the other communities", she said.
