House passes three more demands

IMPHAL, June 25: The Manipur Legislative Assembly session passed three separate demands amounting to Rs 120,87,41,000 today.
The Demands passed on the 12th day of the 5th session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly are Demand No 38 for Panchayat amounting to Rs 61,32,63,000; Demand No. 43 for Horticulture and Soil Conservation amounting to Rs 33,96,18,36,000 and Demand No 49 for Economics and Statistics amounting to Rs. 25,58,60,000.
During discussion on Demand No 38 for Panchayat amounting to Rs 61,32,63,000 today, MLAs Th Shyamkumar and Dr I Ibohanbi Singh raised the Motion of Disapproval of Policy Cut.
The cut motion moved by the two Opposition MLAs concern failure in the devolution of powers to the Panchayat and failure to democratic overlapping of areas under the Autonomous District Council and Panchayat.
During discussion on Demand No. 43 for Horticulture and Soil Conservation, six MLAs moved the Motion for Disapproval of Policy Cut.
The MLAs are, Th Shyamkumar, Dikho, P Brojen Singh, Samuel Rison, Kh Joykishan Singh and Dr I Ibohalbi Singh.
The cut motion raised by the MLAs was on failure to promote new Horticultural product industries, failure in management of technology mission funds, failure to conserve indigenous fruit plants, failure to encourage and expand horticulture farming in the hills, failure to revive production of Magfruit products in the hills for Horticultural activities/farming.
MLAs Dr I Ibohalbi Singh also raised a motion for Disapproval of policy Cut during discussion on Demand No 49 for economics and statistics on the failure to study the actual economic status of the state.
In the meantime, participating in the discussion of the demands, MLAs L Ibomcha Singh and Karam Thamarjit Singh had also placed their observations before the floor of the House.
However, following the detailed clarifications by concerned Ministers regarding cut motions and observations, the MLAs withdrew their cut motions. Later the House passed the three demands.
