Bodies of two missing persons found in highly decomposed state


IMPHAL, May 8: The bodies of the two persons who were reportedly kidnapped by unknown persons from Nongpok Keithelmaanbi area on April 29  were found today in a highly decomposed state at the top of Narenkok Hill in Nongpok Keithelmanbi.

The villagers of the area who discovered the dead bodies informed the police who picked up the bodies and deposited to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Morgue today.

Police say they were informed by the villagers about the two bodies at the top of the Narenkok hill some 15 kilometres to the northwest of the Yairipok police station. The bodies were found lying about 30 ft apart from each other and were in a highly decomposed state with some body parts being possibly eaten by wild animals.

The two dead bodies have been identified as that of Seitinlal Kipgen (50), son of Haokholat Kipgen of Thoubal Dam and Tongsat Haokip (37), son of Late Mangkholet Haokip of Masemjai Village Churachanpur both staying at Bongbal Kholen Village in Saikhul Sub- division in  Sadar Hills. Seitinlal reportedly ran a pharmacy at at Nongpok Keithel Maanbi while Tongsat Haokip was a carpenter.

It may be mentioned that the family members of the two along with the Village Authority of Bongbal Kholen Village had earlier filed a missing report at the Yairipok police station on April 29.
