Gov greets state on Cheiraoba

IMPHAL, Apr 13: Governor Gurbachan Jagat and Chief Minister Okram Ibobi have greeted the people on the occasion of Cheiraoba.
The Governor in his message said, “It is with great pleasure that I offer my greetings to the people of Manipur on the happy and auspicious occasion of "Cheiraoba". For the Hindu Meiteis, Cheiraoba symbolizes the advent of a new year and is a festival celebrated by every household with great enthusiasm. It is a festival where the old changes into new and with the advent of spring it rekindles new avenues of life for a better future. On this propitious day let us all rededicate to work towards the goal of bringing peace, prosperity and progress in the State and every household. Let the New Year dispel the dark forces and bring in light to the State.”

In an official statement, the Chief Minister of Manipur, O Ibobi Singh has greeted the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Cheiraoba which falls on April 14.
He continued that Cheiraoba, one of the major festivals of Manipur, marks the parting of the old year and the onset of the New Year while pointing out that on this auspicious day, the youngsters seek the blessings of the elders for a happy long life. With the advent of another New Year, we should strive to work for unity and peaceful co-existence amongst all sections of the society in the state , the message said while saying he joined the people of Manipur in celebrating the festival and conveyed his sincere wish that the New Year will herald an era of peace, prosperity and progress for all.
