Free Ultrasound service for Children at private hospital

IMPHAL, April 13: The Mothers’ Care Children Hospital and Research Centre at Sagolband Moirang Leirak inaugurated the Continuing Medical Education (CME) 2013 and dedication of ambulance and Ultrasound Machine for free service to the children of the state.
Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, Chairman of the organizing committee said the main objective behind the initiative is “For our children: Our future”.
Pointing out that the healthcare service has developed in leaps and bounds all over the world both in developed and developing countries, he said that the most unfortunate aspect in this growth is the lack of balance. "As seen by all, there are various kinds of health care facility which are available for adults countrywide. But one rarely come across pediatric and newborn emergency units, dedicated pediatric intensive care and neo-natal intensive care units. This lack in input is reflected in the unacceptable rise in morbidity and mortality in infants and children," Dr Ratankumar said.
The Mother's Care Children Hospital and Research Centre, always have in mind to facilitate the ways for parents to treat their sick child he said, and further elaborated, " In the chain of survival of a child patient, the first link is the parents and the general public handling him before being taken to the hospital and the second link is the physicians attending him in the hospital”.
The input of free Ultrasound is essential in clinical perspective and is being made available free of charge to help lighten the burden of modern health care, he said.
Speaking at the function Phungzanthang Tonsing, Minister Health and Family Welfare, Command Area Development Authority (CADA), General Administrative Department (GAD) said giving free service for the Ultrasound and Ambulance is an essential service.
He further said he would urge the Centre to sanction 24 ambulances for the government hospitals with 12 each for the hill and valley areas of the state.
