MPP to elect its 14th President

IMPHAL, February 27: The Central Committee of the Manipur People’s Party (MPP) has resolved on February 11, 2013 to hold elections to fill the Office of the President of MPP.

Informing this in a press meet held at the Conference Hall of MPP today, Heigrujam Nabashyam, State Returning Officer MPP said nomination papers may be submitted by a candidate or any one of his proposers to him at his office of MPP between 11 am to 3 pm of any day but not later than March 5, 2013.

Every candidate would submit a sum of Rs 5000 in cash with the State Returning Officer at the time of presentation of the nomination paper while nomination forms  can be obtained from the party office on payment of Rs 100, he added.

He then said the nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny  on March 7, 2013 at 1 pm.  The notice of withdrawal of candidature is set before 3 pm of March 8, 2013.

In the event of the election being contested, the poll will be taken on March 14, 2013 between 8 am and 1 pm at the place of polling within the office premises of MPP, he said.
