ZDUD and ZWAD appeal for Tousem-Haflong road construction

IMPHAL, November 27 : The joint press release of the Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Delhi and Zeliangrong Welfare Association, Delhi, have appealed to the people of Tamenglong, Zeliangrong civil society, Naga civil society and the Naga ‘National Workers’ to also kindly extend their help whether in cash or kind to support the ongoing Tousem-Haflong Road construction.
In the press release, they said that voluntary funding by well-wishers and the decision of the poor villagers to render free labour to help in finishing the construction of the road before Christmas is one of the biggest sacrifices one can ask. Even more laudable is the abled leadership provided by IAS SDO, Armstrong Pame, Taosem, Tamenglong, Manipur, in overseeing the raising of funds and the logistics of labour and the constructions machinery.
It said that undertaking such a monumental public undertaking to construct a road in the conflict ridden hills without the help of the government has many challenges. Therefore, this noble plan and aspirations of the people would not materialize if the local people do not extend their support and cooperation, it added.
