Students decry centralised distribution of TET forms

IMPHAL, September 15: Three major student bodies of the state, the All Manipur Students’ Union, Kuki Students’ Organization and Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal has decried the manner in which TET forms were made available through only one centre in Imphal thereby causing disadvantages to outstation candidates.

In a joint conference at the AMSU headquarters today the three students bodies has demanded that the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) forms should be made available at all zonal centres in every district by September 19 failing which the student bodies will stop the distribution of forms next day.

They said the opening of just one centre has created a lot of discomfort and inconvenience for the aspirants. Aspirants from the hills and other districts have to stay overnight in Imphal as the queues are too long, he said.

Even though the genuine aspirants had to stay in long queues, several uniformed personnel are seen breaking the queues and taking forms at their own whims.

The student leaders also highlighted the issue of declaration of the Manipur University 4th Semester Master of Commerce results twice.

KSO, Information Secretary Kakai demanded the concerned authorities should find the truth in the double results of the Master of Commerce and punish the guilty persons at the earliest.

He further informed that in case the authorities fail to annul the second result and declare the September 7 as the valid result, then the tribal students will stay out from the MU convocation to be held on September 17.

Speaking at the press conference, AMSU President Th Suresh said that the Manipur University authorities had declared the Manipur University 4th Semester Master of Commerce results on September 7, however superseding the result, the authorities announced a corrigendum on September 11.

The September 7 result had one SH Timothy with roll no 1016012 receiving the Smt Attar Kaur Setia Memorial Gold medal. The Gold medal is awarded to the Commerce topper.

However in the corrigendum, the authorities placed two students as joint toppers. The two Kh Vijayata Devi (roll no 1016005) and Thangjam Gojen Singh (1016016) had not even featured in the 1st to 10th rankers of the first result, he claimed.

Condemning the authorities such blatant discrepancies, he has demanded that the Controller of the Examination and the concerned department should clarify on the issue at the earliest.

He further demanded the authorities to punish anyone found guilty.

The student leader further demanded the revival of the MU students union at the earliest.

Meanwhile, TKLI president, Pamreishaw Reping said the discrepancy found in the recent result of the Master of Commerce, MU amounts to racial discrimination and needs to look into fast.

He continued that such discrepancies were not frequent while the Manipur University Students’ Union was active, however after the student body was dissolved; the university authorities have working without any checks on their whims.

He further demanded tha university authorities to re-establish the students union.
