Sagolband locals seek clarification on availability of two beneficiary forms for Food Security Act

IMPHAL, September 21: Locals of Sagolband Kendra Ward no 10 under Imphal Municipal Council has today demanded clarification from the concerned authorities on the availability of two different beneficiary forms for the Food Security Act and the distribution of the centrally sponsored Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) scheme for the construction of houses for people living under poverty line.
Addressing a press conference held at the residence of Wangkhem Roshomi of Sagolband Nepra Menjor Leikai and attended by several locals of the ward; N Dilip, a local said the people of Sagolband constitutency, specially the locals of Ward no 10 are in a state of confusion regarding the Food Security Act of the Government for the welfare of the people.
He said locals have come across two kind of forms for the identification of beneficiaries for the Food Security Act with one having an order no 8/8/90-DSD/CAF&PD available since September 18; and another similar form though without the order number which was made available before the one with the order number, he added.
This has created a big confusion and problem for the people, he lamented and appealed to the authorities to clarify on which is the genuine form.
He also said the people of the constituency are also confused as some people have been providing beneficiary forms for the construction of houses under the SJSRY scheme in ward no 10 and collecting money as charge for the form.
However, in the official letter of September 3, issued by MUDA to the Ward Development Committee members there is nothing mentioned about the construction of houses under (SJSRY).
He said MUDA had instructed the WDCs to identify non notified slum areas inside the ward having at least 10 to 15 households with a collection of poorly build tenement, mostly of temporary nature, crowded together usually with inadequate sanitary and drinking water facilities in unhygienic condition and the locations of the areas be shown on a sketch map of the ward under the Rajiv Awas Yojana RAY Scheme.
He further appealed to the concerned authorities to look into the issue.
