Observance of month long Blood Donation

IMPHAL, July 7: No-Replacement Month is being observed at the Govt. Hospitals of Manipur (viz. RIMS, JNIMS & other District Hospitals) starting June 14, 2013 till July 13, 2013 in connection with the World Blood Donor Day (June 14, 2013) under the theme ‘Give the Gift of Life: Donate Blood’ under the sponsorship of MACS/SBTC to meet the requirement & also to enhance the Voluntary Blood donation movement in Manipur.
During the month, around 1600-2000 units of blood are being targeted, said a press release of the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, Manipur.
As a part of the ongoing Observance of No-Replacement Month, the District Aids Prevention & Control Unit, Imphal West(DAPCU, IW) along with the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, Manipur (AVBD-Manipur) organized two Motivational Talks on Voluntary Blood Donation, one at Electricity Department on July 6, 2013 and another at Ima Keithel on July 7, 2013 wherein more than 250 individuals were given awareness on basic blood science, eligibility for donating blood, benefits & reasons for donating blood, precautions to be taken by the donor before, during & after blood donation, it said.
Again, as a part of the ongoing observation, two voluntary blood donation camps were organized one at Electricity Department, Keishampat on June 6, 2013 at 11:00 am and another one at Ima Keithel on June 7, 2013 at 10 AM wherein altogether ninety six volunteers donated their Gift of Life.
