CSO’s commits support to Yairipok rape case JAC

IMPHAL, July 7: The JAC formed against the alleged kidnapping and rape of a 17 year old girl of Yairipok today receive a major boost in its demand for justice, with five women’s civil organizations announcing their support to the JAC.

Announcing support to the demand for justice in the case, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba, Manipur spokesperson, L Memchoubi said the five organizations in collaboration with the JAC will intensify their agitation in demand of justice on the case.

She was speaking to media persons during a press conference at the Manipur Press Club today.

She alleged that the accused Md Taj Khan, son of Jaherrudin of Yairipok Singa had kidnapped the victim on June 19, and after raping her dropped her near the gate of her residence on June 20 around 12:30am.

Continuing further she said that the JAC along with the local MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar Singh had met the state Chief Minister demanding arrest of the culprit(s) at the earliest and had also submitted a memorandum to the CM to this effect on June 23, last.

She said that the CM had assured the same day that the culprit(s) will be arrested within two days.

Lamenting that the CM has failed to keep his assurance, she said the five women bodies along with the JAC will continue with stronger agitations.

She said, the police have frequently visited the victim and interrogated her time and again, however, there has been no arrest made so far.

She has appealed both to the state authorities and the people to cooperate in bringing justice to the case.
