National Panchayat day observed widely in state

IMPHAL, April 24: The National Panchayat day observation was organized by the Manipur State Panchayat Parishad today at Manipur Panchayat Bhavan, Porompat.
Speaking at the function, Md Nasir Minister Agriculture and fishery department said that development in the Panchayat level is very important for the state for which joint efforts from every side is needed. "The dream of the Father of Nation, Mahatama Gandhi for bringing development in the rural areas is now somehow fulfilled," he said.
He also appealed to all to use the government schemes being provided under the Panchayat Raj and to use them in the right way for proper development in the rural areas.
To bring the development in the rural areas, politicians along with the people of the state need to do their work with commitment, sincerity and dedication, he said. He also made the point that Zilla Parishad Members Pradhans along with the district agriculture officers need to work together and discuss seriously for the success of initiatives and ventures under the Panchayat system.
Bishwarjit, MLA Thongju A/C speaking on the occasion said that for bringing development at the Panchayat level, all the state MLAs, Ministers and the general public need to do work along with public co-operation.
He also highlighted on the need for a a public participant in Gram Sabha meetings at their respective places to participate discussions regarding the government sponsored schemes.
The function was also by Md Amin Shah, Parliamentary secretary MOBC science and Technology; Md Fajur Rahim MLA Wabagai A/C; K Tombi Singh Adhyaskya Imphal east Zilla Parishad; T Itobi President MSPP and N Mohendro fromer president steering committee NER vision 2020 DONER government of Manipur and Chief Advisor MSPP, besides other officials.
Meanwhile, the day was also observed at the Leirenkabi Kadangband Gram panchayat today.
Outstanding students of the ten Wards under the jurisdiction of Nungleppam Boby, Pradhan of Leirenkabi-Kadangband Gram Panchayat under Imphal West-I who can secure between first and tenth position in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination, 2013 (HSLCE, 2013) will be given cash award of Rs 20,000 each, and two farmers of the said area who can produce maximum quantity of paddy will be selected and give cash award of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000.
This was announced by the Pradhan of Ward No.3 Nungleppam Boby in Panchayat Day Celebration organized for the first time by Leirenkabi-Kadangband Gram Panchayat at Panchayat Ghar located at Lairenkabi at Uripok Kangchup Road today.
The said celebration which was organized as a part of the National Panchayat Day was graced by Khwairakpam Devendra Singh, MLA Sekmai A/C as Chief guest and attended by Laishram Ibopishak Singh, Secretary Haorang Keirel Development Committee as president.
The guests of honour of the occasion were Konthoujam (O) Sinam (N) Suniti Devi, Member Mayang Langjing Zilla Parishad; Thokchom Dhaka and Keisham Thoiba.
Persons who spoke at the occasion maintained that National Panchayat Day has been observed since April 24, 2011 by the India Government to make aware to all the people the importance of panchayat and its developmental programs taken up for the village people.
The powers allotted by the Government to the Pradhan, Up-Pradhan and Members of the Panchayat should be utilized in the right way and try to develop the villages.
