Students call for “No corruption in education” during DESAM rally

IMPHAL, October 4: A cycle rally jointly organized by DESAM Wabgai and Hiyanglam local council along with Kakching Zonal Council, carrying the message “Mahei Loisangsing Fagatnaba Hotnabada Khunjasingsu Yaosillasi” was held today passing through several schools under Hiyanglam Kendra.
The cycle rally was flagged off by Wangmayum Islauddin, president DESAM from Wabgai Lamkhai Keithel.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the rally, W Islauddin stated that education is an indispensable part in the journey of one’s life which cannot be denied while adding that many developed and under developed countries have been investing a huge amount of money in education sector to make best use of the field.
He continued that the Right to Education Act was constituted in India aims at providing free and compulsory education to children of 6-14 years and pointed out that the cycle rally was held to educate villagers on the importance of education.
Many educational institutes in the villages are deteriorating and as such students of poor families have been deprived of education. With this factor, there emerges two categories namely educated children and non-educated children, he pointed out.
The rally was also attended by a huge number of students from Hiyanglam Kendra holding several placards which read “without education, there will be no development”, “education is the key to development”, “implement RTI Act fully”, “no corruption in education”, “provide proper infrastructure to schools” etc.
