PDS rice bags recovered from Myanmarese nationals

IMPHAL, October 2: A team of Moreh Commando led by Havildar T Haridas under the supervision of H Balram Singh, MPS SDPO Moreh has successfully recovered 20 bags of PDS rice from the border area at Ward No 4 from four Myanmarese nationals while trying to load the same on a Tongbay carrier, said a press release of SDPO Moreh.
Later, the seized items were handed over to OC MRH/PS for taking necessary legal action.
The release said the four Myanmarese nationals on seeing the CDO team approaching towards them fled the area leaving behind the rice bags and crossed into Myanmar territory through the porous forested area along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Further, it appealed to all the communities of Moreh to render co-operation in this regard so that the illegal smuggling of PDS rice which is meant for people of Moreh is successfully prevented in the future.
