Jiri students wear black badge against Edu (S) inaction

JIRIBAM, October 1: Citing the failure of the Education (S) Department to address the slew of problems and conditions being faced by the Jiribam Government Higher Secondary School, four student unions based in Jiribam namely AMSU District Committee, MSF Special Branch, DESAM Local Council and KSA Jiribam Unit have launched agitation against the inaction of the concerned department from today.

Students of Jiribam Govt Higher Secondary School wore black badges as a mark of protest today.

In a press meet, leaders of the students’ unions said if the concerned department fail to give positive response to the demands putted up by the unions at the earliest then it will launch other plethora of agitation.

The leaders appealed the public to extend support to the protest and urged the local MLA to intervene into the matter.

It may be mentioned that the four students’ unions had been demanding bringing back of teachers who were transferred from Jiribam; to take action against teachers who have failed to attend their respective schools regularly and to fill up the vacant posts of teachers.

Today’s meet was attended by Y Sanjit Singh, president AMSU District Committee; M Nilkamal Singh, president MSF Special Branch; K Babuloo Singh, president DESAM Local Council and U Rojen Singh, president KSA Jiribam Unit.

On the other hand, the teaching and non-teaching staffs of Jiribam Govt Higher Secondary School have expressed gratitude to Education (s) Addl Director Ranjan Yumnam for providing Table Tennis board, sport material, 50 pairs of bench and desk, library furniture and principal and vice-principal furniture to Jiribam Govt Higher Secondary School.
