Seized contrabands destroyed

IMPHAL, September 22: Lamlai police today destroyed 227 kgs of ganja and seven kilograms of opium seized during the period 2002 to 2013.
The huge amount of contraband items were set on fire inside the Lamla Police Station complex in the presence of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East.
Speaking to media persons, Officer in Charge W Devkumar said that the Lamlai police had seized 79.400 kgs of ganja during 2002, while in 2003, 59 kgs of ganja were seized while in 2012, the police had seized 7.88 kgs of Opium while 99.280 kgs of ganja were seized in 2013 so far.
He said the police had been waiting for court permission to destroy the seized contraband.
