Congress stand on border fencing is unbecoming: MPP

IMPHAL, September 8: The Congress government's stand on the issue of fencing row at the Manipur Myanmar border following an instruction from the central govt to the Chief Minister of the state not to let his ministers visit the spot as of now thereby advising his council of ministers accordingly is unbecoming, said a press release of the Manipur People’s Party.
The press release further said that it is shameful on the part of the ministers and MLAs to maintain silence on the issue; and further termed it a ploy of the Congress to appease the Myanmar government.
The press release further questioned the mindset of the India government for thinking that there is no loss for India on the diminishing territory of Manipur.
As a responsible political party, MPP is staying on alert on the issue of fencing row following the assurance of the government of India for a joint survey of the Indo-Myanmar border, it said.
