Three VDF personnel caught for lifting vehicle at Jiribam

JIRIBAM, August 29: Three VDF personnel attached to Jiribam Police Station in Imphal East district have been reportedly nabbed by Meitei Naha Club, Ningthembam for their involvement in lifting an activa scooter at Ningthembam, Jiribam on the intervening night of August 27 and August 28 last, reports our correspondent.
The arrested personnel have been identified as Ayekpamb Chaoba Singh (25), son of A Labaina Singh of Bakhal Cachar, Assam; Ahobam Jiten Singh (23) son of A Babatombi Singh of Champanagar, Jiribam and Thongam Tomba Singh (26), son of Th Rajkumar Singh of Kadamtala, Jiribam.
The reports said a newly brought Honda activa scooter belonging to one Mutum Bhupen Singh (43) son of (l) M Mano of Ningthembam was found stolen from his residence on the intervening night of August 27 and August 28.
On being queried about the incident by the vehicle owner, it came to light that the three VDF personnel were involved directly in the case and the information was passed to the Meitei Naha Club, Ningthemba.
Acting on the information, the three personnel were brought at the club and interrogated where they confessed about their involvement in the theft case.
They further revealed before the club and meira paibees that another person identified as Bimol from Silchar was also involved in the case and that the stolen activa scooter was still being kept at the residence of Ratan, their colleague VDF personnel from Sorok Atingbi Khunou.
Later, the Meitei Naha Club, Ningthembam handed over the three VDF personnel to Jiri Police, it added.
