TG rape accused produced before court

IMPHAL, August 14: The two main accused in the rape case of the Thamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School student Yumnam William and Thongam Tarun were attacked by angered womenfolk and family members of the victim as they were being produced for a hearing of the case at the court complex of the District and Session Court, Manipur East today for the hearing of the rape where the two rape accused statement where produced before the Judge.
Speaking to media persons, outside the court complex Ng Tejkumar, Special Public Prosecutor said that all the statements of the witnesses from the prosecution counsel have been already produced before the court.
The two accused were also produced before the court and the next hearing for the case has been announced September 2 when witnesses from the side of the defence counsel, he said.
The defence counsel had today submitted before the court that the counsel would like to produce the call diary record of two mobile phone numbers which were used by the alleged victim and the two accused as witness during the next hearing, following which the day’s hearing was adjourned till the next hearing, he said.
It may be mentioned that a class XII student of the TG Higer Secondary School was allegedly raped in a restaurant at Changangei Ucheckon along the Imphal Airport road on October 20, 2012 two rape accused namely Yumnam William of Khagempalli Panthak, a driver of the Manipur Police Commando and Thongam Tarun of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, a Manipuri digital film actor who are presently lodged at the Sajiwa Central Jail under judicial custody under section 366/376 of the IPC under FIR number 460(10)2012.
