IMPHAL, August 28: The All Manipur Women Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), Keishampat today said in a press release that a total of 18 women were killed in the year 2013. Some of them were killed after having been raped. Some of them were died in suspicious manner of having possible family involvement. Most of the cases were not investigated by the concerned police stations, the release said.

In order to minimize such crimes, a series of seminars, awareness, rallies were organised at different parts of Manipur. And yet to gain momentum of the movement, street corner meetings with wall poster campaign is being organised in Imphal East district, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts, it said.

On August 28 and 29, the campaign will be organised at Sekmai Bazaar, Pangei Bazaar, Sagolmang Bazaar, Yaingangpokpi Bazaar, Lamlai Bazaar, Pangei Bazaar, Lamlong Bazaar, Kongba Bazaar, Andro and Yairipok Bazaar of Imphal East district, it said.

On August 30 and 31, the campaign will be continued at Serou, Sugnu, Kakching Khunou Bazaar, Wabagai Bazaar, Kakching Bazaar, Thoubal Bazaar, Palen Bazaar, Wangjing Bazaar, Salungpham, Waithou Bazaar and Lilong Bazaar of Thoubal district.

The campaign will be held at Churchandpur Bazaar, Saiton Bazaar, Kwakta Bazaar, Moirang Bazaar, Nambol Bazaar, Ithai, Thanga, and Kumbi on September 3 and 4 respectively for Bishnupur and CCPur line, it said.
