“No plans for creation of Dr Kishan memorial park as of now”

IMPHAL, June 24: There is no plan as of now for the state government to create a memorial park “Manari Ningsing kol” in memory of Dr Th Kishan, Y Token and A Rajen.
This was said by Chief Minsiter Okram Ibobi Singh replying to a question raised by Thangmeiband Kendra MLA Khumukcham Joykisan Singh in the House today.
The Chief Minister further said that “the incident” while referring to the alleged murder of the SDO and his two subordinates was quite a saddening incident and very unfortunate one too.
He said that there was a proposal to create a memorial park during a meeting between the state government and the JAC initiated in connection with the incident, near the Gandhi Ghat next to Uripok Cheirap Court.
However, there is a need to recheck the conditions on which the JAC and the government had agreed upon and whether the signed agreement included the creation og a memorial park or not, he said.
There is also a need to check whether it can be handled directly by the state government or not and if yes then whether the budget can be included to a state government department or not, the Chief Minister said replying to the MLA’s query.
On hearing the answer, MLA Joykisan observed that if the government can provide a location for the creation of the park, then it can be created by raising funds from the public easily.
