Inner Line Permit (ILP) awareness campaign continues

IMPHAL, June 11: The campaign on ILP system which was started from May 18, 2013 at different schools by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit system, Students’ Wing has continued.
Office bearers of Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Kangleipak Students’ Union (KSA), Students’ Union Kangleipak (SUK), All Manipur Art & Culture Students’ Union (AMACSU) etc today organized a campaigning on ILP system at different schools in Thoubal district including Paradise English School and Zenith Institute of Higher Secondary School.
Kh Kamaladash Meitei president, DESAM Thoubal district said that demands for ILP system is not anti-national as it is a system in which foreigners or outsiders will be allowed entry into Manipur with proper identification and verification.
He further continued, ‘this does not necessarily mean that the foreigners/outsiders are not allowed to visit Manipur. Non locals have outnumbered local population in Jiribam assembly constituency due to non-implementation of ILP.’
He elaborated further on the ownership of lands by the non-locals and also the unemployment of the local youths whose employability was lost due to influx of non-locals while saying that Indian Constitution provides safeguarding of the indigenous populace.
After having an interaction with the students, the students together applauded a slogan for the reintroduction of ILP system in Manipur.
