A press meet was today organised in which Sh Jiten Singh, general secretary of Khongjom Bazaar Development Committee mentioned that Khongjom is a historic place and a market was developed according to the demand of the entire population. This market lies along the NH 39.
He further said that if the govt acquires 150 feet to widen the national highway, then this Khongjom bazaar will be no more whereas extension of just 100 feet is manageable.
The secretary further criticized the wisdom of the govt in making the land acquisition order two times in a row saying that the govt is inviting agitation.
