Shishu Nishtha Niketan calls for a transport policy

IMPHAL, April 13: The statement of the Secretary of All Manipur Students’ Transporter Association in a local newspaper that Shishu Nishta Niketan (SNN) will not recruit new transport vehicles for the school is an act of stopping new admission of students in the school.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Nongthombam Elizabeth Principal SNN said a transport policy is required to be implemented for the safety and security of the students. "There have been instances when the students cannot give orientation in studies due to inconveniences in transportation," she said.
Saying that transporters have to follow some do's and don’ts of the school, the Principal said, "School vehicles have to register with the school by paying Rs 1500 as registration fee and deposit an amount of Rs 3000 as a security deposit which is refundable," she said. The amount is merely to be used for the maintenance and welfare of the vehicles, she added.
