Minor girl taken away by married man

IMPHAL, April 12: A man who is said to be married and having three children has allegedly disappraed with a girl studying in class 9 standard and are still to be traced even as public ire over the Satyabhama murder case is yet to subside.
Meira paibis including the family of the girl stormed the residence of the man involved in the incident.
According to information received from the mother of the girl and family members, the girl who was deceived into being taken away by the married man is only 15 years old. The girl is currently studying in the 9th standard at N Tomchou Singh Hr. Secondary School.
The man who reportedly took away the minor girl is said to be one Longjam Prasanta Singh, (32), son of L Prakash Singh of Pangal Siphai Top Kabaddi Lampak Maning Longjam Leikai. Prashanta is alleged to have called out the girl from her residence on April 7 at around 12.30 p.m.
The mother of the girl said that though her daughter was very young, they were waiting for persons from the side of the family of the would-be-groom who would inform of the elopement. The girl's brother H Amuba Singh reported the incident to the Mayang Imphal police station on April 9.
Police could not trace Longjam Prasanta and the girl and so picked up Prasanta’s grandfather, Longjam Angojao on April 10.
But the accused Prasanta told the mother of the girl over the phone that her daughter was with him and was safe. He also called up RK Anilkumar Singh, officer-in-charge of Mayang Imphal police station to release his grandfather as it was unreasonable saying that that he eloped with the girl. But his mobile phone was later switched off when he was told to surrender to the police.
Engraged local people including the family of the girl went to Prasanta’s residence,following which Prasanta’s parents went into hiding. Today evening, Meira paibis stormed the residence of Prasanta and told the family to set a deadline for the two to be produced.
