Minister attends jubilee celebration at CCpur

LAMKA, April 15: A team led by Minister of Education M Okendro Singh had come to Ccpur to attend programs relating to education in Ccpur.
The first stop of the Education Minister was at Gandhi Memorial High School at Mualnom West, Ccpur which was celebrating its golden jubilee.
The program was held at the High School ground which is also one of the few model schools in the district following the team’s arrival at the school at 11am.
The function was also attended by Minister T Phungzathang, and several alumnus of the school including ex Minister and sitting MLA TN Haokip; S Vungzagin Valte PS, Manipur and ex Minister Holkhomang Haokip who is the founding head master and chairman of the celebration committee and.
The school is credited with producing many well-known personalities be it in politics, education, religion or medical lines.
The program was plan to be a grand celebration but was marred by the rain and wind that created havoc and force the attendees to abandon the makeshift hall which collapsed.
Since the chief guest was unable to deliver his speech in the hall due to bad weather he met the pressmen and officials of the school in one of the class rooms where he said that under the Prime Ministers Package the school will be aided with a sum estimated to be around Rs 1 crore which will be used for building hostels for boys and girls and class room for class I to V.
The Minister’s second stop was to inaugurate an SSA aided school at Khominthang in New Lamka. A school had been running at the area prior to a cabinet decision to establish a school aided or run by the government. The school was run under the initiative of EM of MCD CCPur, Gouzamang Guite.
The Education Minister said the school will be upgraded to accommodate more students and said that funds will be release for the construction of the school fencing.
He also added that a site that will house a polytechnic institution will be selected soon and in a few days, he will return to see the selected site which will be finalised by the DC of CCpur.
Speaking to the media, Gouzamang Guite said that the new teacher will start work from tomorrow itself.
He said that the boarding for the school will be arranged soon as the present school building cannot accommodate the boarders.
He said that the purpose of the school is to provide education and at the same time help bring about economic development in the area.
