Aadhar integrated schemes will ensure benefits to genuine beneficiaries: PM

Dudu, Oct 20: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today launched Aadhaar Enabled Service Delivery on the occasion of second anniversary of the Unique Identification Authority of India.

Main Function was organized in Dudu in Rajasthan. Services were rolled out in 51 districts across the country.
In the past two years the government has enrolled 24 crore people for Aadhar and around 60 crore of population will be covered by 2014. National Schemes like MGNREGA and Pension scheme will be integrated with the Aadhaar Card.
Speaking at the launch of Aadhar-enabled Service Delivery system, Dr Singh said the unique identity numbers will help 1.5 crore students get scholarships, two crore elderly get old age pensions, three crore to avail health insurance and five crore people get the benefits of MNREGA.
He handed over Aadhar number '21 crore' to a woman villager.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said linking the Aadhar number with programmes will bring in transparency in the implementation of public schemes.
UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said that Rajivji dreamt of using technology for empowering the aam admi.
Aadhar Project is the next leap for realising this dream and this is not just an identity of people but is a basis of the rights of aam admi in the delivery of public services.
Sonia Gandhi said that the Government wants to give subsidy on different services for the weaker sections of society and wants to ensure that this subsidy reaches the intended beneficiaries.
Aadhar Project will be useful for giving direct subsidy to the needy people.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram said that the Aadhar project will help in better service delivery of different welfare schemes of the Government to the intended beneficiaries.
He said that with the Aadhar number, students will get benefit of scholarships and people living below the poverty line will get benefit from the different flagship programmes of the Union Government.
PM honours officials for promoting effective governance
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today honoured officials for their outstanding performance with innovative approach towards leveraging 'Aadhaar' to improve the services delivering for more transparent efficient and effective governance.
The officials were honoured on the occasion of the launch of 'Aadhaar-enabled service delivery system' at Dudu in the presence of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Amitabh Kaushal- Deputy Commissioner, Ramgarh District, Jharkhand was awarded the first prize under the 'Aadhaar Governance Awards'.
He was honoured for leveraging Aadhaar Identity Infrastructure Platform for improvement of delivery services in implementation of various social sector programmes especially MGNERGA, distribution of stipend to students, PDS and social security pension scheme.
Second prize was awarded jointly given to Neetu Kumari Prasad - District Collector, and A Babu - Joint Collector of East Godawari District - Andhra Pradesh for innovative work in undertaking an Aadhar enabled public distribution system pilot.
The third prize was given to Kunal Kumar, District Collector Aurangabad-Maharashtra, for implementing Aadhar enabled payment for various pension schemes run by the Central government and the state government of Maharashtra.
"Aadhaar Excellence award" was also given to A P Hota, Managing Director and CEO NPCI for initiatives taken in implementation of Aadhar enabled payment system pilot in Jharkhand and also for contribution of NPCI as Authentication Service Agency to various banks.
Harpreet Singh, Commissioner Civil Supplies- Government of Andhara Pradesh, was awarded for innovative work in executing the Aadhaar enabled public distribution system pilot in East Godawari District in Andhra Pradesh.
The Aadhaar Excellence award was also given to P Jayadevan - Chief Manager Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Rajesh Agrawal - Secretary IT Government of Maharashtra and Bank of India.
