Moijing Hills landslide claims one

IMPHAL, September 14: In a freak accident, a lady was buried alive when a section of Waithou Moijing hill collapsed upon her house while the victim was sleeping at around 2 am this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Thambalmacha, 35, wife of Md Gyanuddin of Moijing Thongjao Makhong.
Her body was recovered this morning at 4:10am using an excavator.
She was with her two sons and a daughter at her house when the accident happened. Her husband and their three sons were away at a relative’s place for yesterday’s Panchayat election.
The room where Thambalmacha slept was completely submerged with the landslide reaching upto the ceiling and her body had to be retrieved using an excavator.
Gold ornaments and other items meant for her eldest daughter’s dowry amounting to around Rs 25 thousand have also been buried in the accident.
