Fear psychosis still remains

IMPHAL, August 27: The fear psychosis which was prevalent among northeastern students following the violence at Kokrajhar ,Assam and the resulting impact in the states of Bangalore, Pune and Hydrabad has subsided and there is no cause for worry, according to Home Minister Gaikhangam.

The Minister briefing mediapersons at his old Secretariat office today appealed the students and workers to return back to their respective places.

He mentioned that Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, R Ashoka had also given his assurance during his goodwill mission and further met and reassured concerned parents.

There is a trust between both states that unwanted incidents will not occur, and regardingly Ashoka had appealed the northeastern students to come back.

Gaikhangam said that the incidents which occurred had been magnified due to unwanted rumors, this should be clearly noted.

He added that preventive measures had also been initiated by the state governments’.

It was assured by R Ashoka, that special coaching classes will be given to those who missed classes due to the spread of rumors at Karnataka state.

Quizzed by reporters whether if the assurance tendered among the state governments is totally reliable, Gaikhangam said that there may be some verbal intimidation but there are no visible threats at the ground level.

The Home Minister also mentioned that the state government is taking up measures to control the influx of illegal migrants to the State , he stated that the issue at Assam may have erupted following differences among the indigenous population and illegal migrants but the scenario at Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad has been perpetrated by anti social elements.

Students studying at Maharashtra which fled to the state have went back to their respective places of study.

IFP received news that one female student namely Rosina Chirom ,studying at Dr DY Dental College, Pimpree ,who was allegedly attacked by three persons on August 16 left the State for Pune today.

Other students who fled Pune have also scheduled to return shortly, sources add.
