O Joy challenges Dy CM for debate

IMPHAL, April 30: Making the point that many incidents have been occurred which have not beein heard of in the history of the state, O Joy Advisor of Manipur Peoples’ Party has said that the state has become a land of drug trafficking. The administration of the state is ruled by black marketers, drug smugglers and bluff masters, he said while addressing a press meet at the MPP party office today. "Charity is not the need of the moment. What the society need now is better governance, preservation of human values and progress, he said.

Drug smuggling in the state is not done by the poor people. When the security personnel were involved in drug trafficking, it is certain that higher functionaries of the government involved in the crime. Government has announced to take action against the drug traffickers. “What has happened to the airport and Pallel drug cases?”, he asked.

He then said, recently a huge quantity of drug was seized from the possession of some police personnel including a Jamadar and Sub Inspector and questioned how it was possible that the security personnel had no idea what was in the bags.

Adding that the police department must be a department of intelligent and wise people, O Joy said that the irony was that the wise people will say that it is a department of the fools. The statement of the OC should be made known. We do not trust the Government, he added.

O Joy then questioned whether the person named by the security personnel have been verified over whether he is indeed the main kingpin. Pointing out the possibility of high ranking officials being involved in the drug trafficking, he challenged Gaikhangam, the Deputy Chief Minister who also holds the portfolio of Home Minister over the issue.

He observed that it is as good as the drug peddlers being safeguarded by the government as it does not give any proper answers. Gaikhangam must understand that the land is not ruled only by those who won election, O Joy said and added that  Sit-in protests will be staged starting from May 4, 2013 and road campaign on May 6, 8, 10 and 12, 2013 against drug trafficking cases.
