Md. Basir Ahmed in judicial remand over firing on Mala


IMPHAL, May 18: Md. Basir Ahmed (32), son of Md. Rahimmudin of Hiyangthang who was arrested by police in connection with the firing on Mala Lisam, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee, Thoubal by on May 3 has been remanded to judicial custody.

He was arrested on May 6 under the case FIR No. 85(5)2013 TBL PS U/S 307/427/351 IPC and 25(I-C) Arms Act registered by Thoubal police station regarding the incident. Basir Ahmed is a police constable posted at the Narcotic cell of Imphal West District.

When the police produced him before the court in connection with the case, the court remanded him to 10 days police custody. Three days of further police custody remand was issued on May 15 following the prayer by the police filed with the court stating that investigation being conducted by the police into his case during remained incomplete.

However since the term of his police custody remand expired, he was produced before the court of Chief-Judicial Magistrate/Thoubal (CJM/TBL)on Friday. The court then remanded him to 15 day judicial custody.
