Drug siezure accused Menshang remanded to eight days police custody


IMPHAL, May 10: Lalmingsang Mizo alias Menshaag (30), son of Khankhuma of Moreh Ward no. 2 was produced before the CJM of Thoubal A Nouteneshwari Devi today. It may be mentioned that he was implicated in the recent drug seizure case that involved 11 state security personnel. His name was flagged off by Sub Inspector RK Binodjit Singh.

Lalmingsang admitted in court today that he knew Sub Inspector RK Binodjit Singh well following his posting as a Sub Inspector at Moreh.

Of Md Ali, he said he was known to him personally  10 years back and had not seen him till today but added that he could recognize him if he saw Ali face to face.   He said he knew nothing and had no knowledge of Md Azad.

Lalmingsang said he was a businessman by profession dealing with tobacco products like zarda, kheini etc. He said the charges against him of drug ownership was totally baseless.

The CJM awarded 8 days police custodial remand for Lalmingsang. The case has also been transferred to the NDPS (special Cpurt) Lamphel for further hearing.
