IED explosion near BSF headquarter

IMPHAL, February 20: A a powerful Improvised Explosive Device exploded near the Battalion Headquarter of the Border Security Force at Luwangsangbam.
However, no one was injured during the explosion, police said.
Meanwhile, the UNLF has claimed that the explosion was triggered by a demolition team of its Manipur Peoples’ Army.
Police sources informed IFP that the exact spot of the explosion was near the gate of a dispensary at Luwangsangbam Haotabi on the Western side of the National Highway 2 some three kms away from Heingang police station. The BSF headquarter is just about a 100 meter away from the explosion site.
The police have also said that the bomb was an IED and could have been triggered using a timer device.
Sources have also informed that soon after receiving news about the explosion, a Heingang police team led by its OC, Inspector Raikumar Singh rushed to the spot to conduct a search operation. BSF officials also rushed to the spot to take stock of the incident, sources said.
