WAD expresses concern over reported rape of state woman in train

IMPHAL, October 4: Women Action for Development (WAD) in a press statement has expressed shock over the incident of an alleged rape of a 28 year old woman from the state, who was allegedly dragged out of a Secunderabad bound train at the Palasa station in Andhra Pradesh and gang raped by unknown miscreants on August 8, 2013, as reported in a national newspaper and some state dailies, said a press release Women Action for Development (WAD).
WAD further appealed to the state Home department to investigate the matter seriously by sending an investigation team to Andhra Pradesh at the earliest.
WAD also appealed to the Social Welfare department to mobilize a medical team to the Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) Kanke, Ranchi without delay so as to investigate and observe the physical and mental situation of the woman, it said.
