NAB team seizes Rs 6.15 lakh worth of WY drug

IMPHAL, October 3: Personnel of the Narcotic Affairs of Border Police this morning arrested a person along with 410 tablets containing Amphetamine (WY) “World is Yours” worth around Rs 6,15,000 in the grey market this morning at around 9:30 am from New Checkon area under Porompat Police Station Imphal East District.
The arrested person was produced before media persons along with the seized WY Tablets at the office of NAB.
Speaking to the media, Officer in Charge, NAB RK Bikramjit said the NAB team was acting on a special tip that the transaction of some illegal drugs was to be carried out in the general area of New Checkon.
Following the information, the team led by himself, under the supervision of SP, NAB S Gautam rushed to the area, he said.
The team, while looking out for the transaction saw a person who seemed to be in his early 40’s in a suspicious manner around the gate of the Brighter English Academy, he said.
The man was stopped and questioned and during his body search, a plastic container marked “Neopeptine" was recovered from the left pocket of his trousers, the police officer said.
“The man arrested is identified as Hemkhomang Haokip (43), son of Lunkhojang Haokip of S Mojol village, Moreh Ward number 7, presently staying at a rented accommodation of S Ingba of AAA ground Porompat.”
The OC further stated that initially Hemkhomang told the NAB team that the Neopeptine enzyme bottle contained only vitamins, however on testing the tablets with the help of drug testing kits, the tablets were found to be pink coloured Amphetamine tablets (WY).
The tablets were seized immediately and the man was brought to the NAB office for further investigation.
