Mob burns down house of murder accused; ousts him from locality

IMPHAL, October 28: Locals of Langol Lai Manai today burned down the house of Tongbram Babu, the main accused in the alleged murder of JCB driver M Devaraj after getting information about his involvement in case.
Furious locals of Lai Mani today came out in strong numbers and after dismantling the house, burnt it down completely in the morning around 9:30.
The locals infuriated, on reading news reports which said that the accused was from Langol Lai Manai locality, came out in droves and started searching for the address mentioned in the report.
The mob found the house at Langol Ningthou Leikai and dismantled and burned down the house.
Speaking to the media, several locals echoed that the accused and his family will not be allowed to reside in the locality and further appealed to all others to comply with the same.
They further appealed the government to give a befitting punishment to all the accused.
It may be mentioned that the accused, T Babu was also involved in the killing of L Memchoubi alias Mema, 48, wife of L Nilabir of Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai.
The Moreh items trader’s body was recovered from the approach road of Langol Game village to Lamshang on November 29, 2011.
Babu had been absconding from the police untill he was arrested by the team of Imphal west Police Station on the murder case of the JCB excavator driver M Devaraj two days back.
