Governor’s message on national cleanliness day

IMPHAL, Oct 1: The Governor of Manipur has in a press statement greeted the people of the State on the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti and wished the celebration a great success.
The whole country observes 2nd October every year, the birthday of the father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, as the ‘National Cleanliness Day’ and Manipur will also observing Cleanliness Day on 2nd October, 2013, said the statement.
It said Gandhiji was a firm believer in the dignity of manual labour while adding that he always emphasized the need for cleanliness and purification of both body and mind.
While observing the birth of this great soul, people of the State should clean the environment to make it more hygienic and also make an effort to keep the human body, mind and soul pure, the press release said.
The Governor further appealed to all to recall on this day, the Mahatma’s message of non-violence, love peace and universal brotherhood.
