Law with the state, order with the militants, predicates JDU president

IMPHAL, September 15: The law of the land is in the hands of the government while the order is in the hands of the underground militants, claimed Janata Dal United Manipur State, National Council, President M Tombi.

He was addressing a press conference at the party’s office while announcing an all political party excluding the Congress to be taken out on September 23 starting from THAU ground and concluding at the Raj Bhavan.

He said a memorandum on the present condition of the state will also be submitted to the Governor at the end of the rally.

He appealed to all the civil society organizations, NGOs, Meira Paibis to support the rally.

The decision to launch the rally was taken during an all political party meeting held yesterday at the residence of one Md Ajijur Haq of Kshetrigao from 9am to 2:30pm, he continued.

The meeting further discussed over several issues confronting the state at the moment including the Indo-Myanmar border fencing issue, the law and order aspect in the face of the September 13 bomb blast killing 9 construction workers  and the Education Department, the JDU president declared.

S Sarat of CPI (M), former PULF (MI Khan) leader MI Khan of PPF and A Shamu have been appointed as chairman, and co convenors of the rally, respectively, he continued.

The meeting further condemned the Khoyathong bomb blast, he said while adding that the September 13 blast was not the first in Imphal.

He further demanded from the police to prevent such incidents instead of just taking up security measures after every explosion.

Declaring the present law and order situation in the state to be a total failure, the JDU state president said the state has failed totally to protect the life and property of civilians.

The meeting also condemned the state education department’s negligence of not providing information about the National Teacher’s Award distribution function to a teacher of the state, resulting in the teacher missing out from the distribution ceremony, he said.

He further demanded the state government to take action against the concerned authority so that such incidents do not occur again.
