Kangpokpi youths alleged assault by NSCN (IM) cadres

KANGPOKPI, September 23: Three Kangpokpi residents who went to Senapati yesterday were allegedly caught and beaten up severely after they were blind-folded and their hands and legs tied with a rope by unknown persons suspected to be NSCN-IM.

The three have been identified as Thangvanglen Misao (22), s/o Thangtinlal Misao, Kangpokpi Ward No 6, who is a III Semester student of Kangpokpi College; Ginkhomang Hangshing (27), s/o Thangdou Hangshing of Kangpokpi Ward No.6, a Butcher by profession and Mangminlal Sitlhou (29), s/o Mangchon Sitlhou of Kangpokpi Ward No 11,  a mason were released later late night around 9:30 with the initiatives of Senapati Town Committee near traffic point Senapati bazar just in front of the Senapati Police Station.

The Kangpokpi Town Committee members including its chairman Chonkam Kipgen and Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization members went to pick up the trio and admitted the three at the CHC, Kangpokpi at around 10:30 pm. The three were later taken to Kangpokpi Christian Hospital commonly known as Mission hospital around midnight since they did not show any improvement even after they were administered with proper medical treatment.

According to them, the three went to Senapati yesterday at around 12 noon to one liquor vendor at Senapati bazar.

Recounting their side of the story, they said they got in a bus to return back to Kangpokpi when some unknown persons caught them from behind and asked them to come down from the bus.

Later they ordered the trio to move down the Old Road and when they reached there, the unknown persons blind-folded them started to beat them after tying their hands.

In the meantime, the Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization and Kangpokpi Youth Union jointly condemned the unfortunate incident in the strongest terms.

The three organizations have also demanded everyone involved with the incident to clarify over the issue and bring an amicable solution latest by tomorrow to avoid any unwanted incident.

The three also echoed that in case the appeal is not taken seriously, than those involved should be held responsible for any untoward incident arising out of the situation.
