AJWJU celebrates its 42th foundation day

JIRIBAM, September 23: The All Jiribam Working Journalists’ Union (AJWJU) celebrated its 42th Foundation Day at the conference hall of PWD Guest House with O Menjor Singh, Addl SP Jiribam; Meinam Joymangol Singh, president AJWJU and Maipaksana Mangnang, convener Jiri District Demand Committee attending as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, O Menjor Singh stated that various militant organisations based in the state are not true revolutionary forces but they are all money concerned groups.
Giving welcome cum key note address, Y Sanjit Singh, asst secy AJWJU said the AJWJU was set up at Jiribam in 2001 to provide assistance and all other possible helps to journalists based in Jiribam when they face unwarranted problems adding that the number of journalists in the state are few with many pursuing the profession out of passion.
Saying that many kind of news could be fetched from Jiribam as it is strategically located despite its smaller size and that media houses back in Imphal sought news from the sub-division, he further appealed to one and all to give suggestions to AJWJU on any issue.
Sarat Thokchom, editor PIN; L Jaminikanta Singh, associate prof Jiri College and L Romen Singh, Advocate spoke on ‘’Role of Media”, ‘’History of Press” and ‘’Press Law” respectively as resource persons respectively and gifts were also presented to five journalists based in Jiribam in recognition of their contribution.
