Food Security ordinance will alleviate poverty in the country: Gaikhangam

IMPHAL, August 26: With a view to make the public aware of the Food Security Bill which is now an ordinance, the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) organised a Lok Sabha Youth Convention to discuss on the National Food Security Ordinance and Open Mass Enrolment for MPYCC at Konthoujam Makha Leikai, Ibudhou Pakhangba Community Hall today.

Addressing the function, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that the National Food Security bill is now an ordinance of the Congress led government under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh.

He continued that under the National Food Security, 5 Kg of rice will be provided per month to each person at the rate of Rs 3 per Kg, wheat will be provided at the rate of Rs 2 per Kg and other grains at the rate of only Rs 1.

The MPYCC workers have to take up every possible step to create awareness to the people about the policy programs taken up by the UPA government, he said and organize similar meetings at district level and booth level to create awareness about the policy programs.

He further said that the National Food Security ordinance will be a transparent scheme and the implementation of the said ordinance would alleviate poverty in the country.

The Indian Youth Congress is the back bone of the Congress Party and to become a perfect leader one have to provide good directive to curve them into right position, he said, meanwhile he stated that if the Youth Congress ignore their responsibility the entire effort of the government to bring about development will remain futile.
