Sanjit, Rabina remembered on their 4th death anniversary

IMPHAL, July 23: The 4th Death Anniversary of Chungkham Sanjit and Thokchom Rabina was observed today at Ima Nongleima Laibung, Khurai Chingangbam Leikai in Imphal East district at 11:30 am organized by the JAC formed in connection with the killing of the two.
Chungkham Sanjit and Thokchom Rabina were killed by Manipur police commandos in an alleged encounter at Khwairamband Keithel on July 23, 2009.
More than 300 people including families and relatives of the two attended the function and offered floral tributes to the photos of the two deceased and observed a minute’s silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
Late Sanjit’s sister Ch Anandi Devi (30), speaking to this IFP reporter said that the trail for the case is still pending at the court. She appealed for speedy trail of the case and award befitting punishment to all found guilty.
Late Rabina’s mother-in-law Thokchom Memmi Devi (56), said that there was no response from any organization for one year after the incident occurred. She said that they have also not received any kind of aid from the government side till today.
Late Rabina’s sister Th Leijalembi Devi (30), said that Rabina’s son is studying at Heritage Convent which has admitted Rabina’s son free of cost but added that they still have to pay for many other things like van fee, books, Tiffin etc.
She appealed the government to provide Rabina’s husband an appropriate job, as they belong to a poor family.
Rabina’s grandmother Mayanglambam (o) RK Radhesana expressed her unhappiness that the case is taking too long.
She said “it’s been 4 years now since the incident happened” and appealed for the speedy trail of the case.
