Olympian’s demise condoled

IMPHAL, July 23: An emergency meeting of the Manipur Olympic Association was held today at the Olympic Bhavan/Shanglen, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal. The meeting condoled the sudden and untimely demise of Olympian L Brojeshri Devi a judoka from Khagempalli, Imphal, said a statement of the MOA.
It said that (L) Brojeshri had represented the country in the Sydney Olympic Games 2000, Asian and Commonwealth Games 2002, South Asian Games 20O6 and 2010.
The meeting also observed a two minute silence as a mark of respect and prayed for her soul to rest in peace in heaven.
Her demise is not only a loss for the sports fraternity of the state, but also an irreparable one in the women’s Judo world, it said. The Manipur Olympic Association shares grief and sorrow of the bereaved family, it said.
The press release further said that the Govt of Manipur should ask to the Govt of Tamil Nadu to initiate a probe on the death of the first woman Olympian from the state and further added that her sudden demise is a big loss.

The Chanura Marup of Manipur People’s Party has today issued a press release condoling the sudden demise of the first Manipuri woman Olympian L Brojeshori by observing a two minute silence.The press release further said that the Govt of Manipur should ask to the Govt of Tamil Nadu to initiate a probe on the death of the first woman Olympian from the state and further added that her sudden demise is a big loss.
