“AR post in CCpur attacked”

IMPHAL, July 9: Well armed men numbering around 50 to 100 suspected to be militants carried out an attack at the 35th Assam Rifles post at Aihang in Churachandpur district bordering Myanmar this morning at around 11am.
According to reports, the well armed men first surrounded the said AR post and carried out the attack mostly with rocket launchers.
The AR personnel retaliated and there was an exchange of firing for some minutes.
The suspected militants fled from the scene son after, informed the source.
There is no official report of any casualty from the AR side. Speaking to IFP over the telephone, Officer-in-Charge of Singhat police station has confirmed the report of the firing.
However the incident has not been reported officially to the said police station by the AR, said the OC.
Meanwhile, sources said that the attack was carried out by the armed wing, Red Army of the banned outfit Peoples’ Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) progressive.
However there is no official confirmation from the party’s side.
