“Uripok-Kangchup road to be widened”

IMPHAL, June, 27: Works Minister, Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh said in the House today that the government is preparing to widen the Uripok Kangchup road.
Replying to a question from ruling MLA L Nandakumar Singh, the Minister further continued that the widening of the road will be started from Uripok Sorbon Thingen to Iroishemba Chingjin and its breadth would be approximately 15 metres.
He said that the necessary WBM will be inclusive for widening of the road and adding that necessary demarcation works has been started although no contractor has entrusted widening of the road.
I Hemochandra Singh, Minister of Public Health Engineering department in reply to a question from MLA Fajur Rahim said that the Heiyen water supply scheme of Wabagai assembly constituency is to supply drinking water to the entire area and added that the necessary pipe laying is already completed.
He continued that supply of water could be started once the assembling of pump sets are completed.
Replying to another question, the Minister said that the Khelakhong water
In another question, the PHE minister said that the Khelakhong water supply scheme was not operational for some time due to nonworking condition of the water pump set and supplemented that it is operational now since this month’s 11th.
The PHE minister, while replying to another question said that the Irong Chesaba water supply scheme is not supplying water owing to road maintenance of the public works department at the area and further said that it will be soon be operational after the completion of the road maintenance work.
“Efforts to convert all govt schools to pattaland in process”
Replying to a question from MLA P Brojen Singh on whether the government schools in the state are paying revenue to the state government today, the state Education Minister M Okendro Said that there are some schools which are on pattaland and while some are not.
He said efforts to convert schools which are not pattaland to pattalands are on.
Replying to another question, he said there is no provision for the fencing of the Lalita Madhab Sharma school of Khongjom.
He further added that the government is preparing to fence all schools after having the respective schools turned to pattaland with assistance of the Minister of DoNER and North Eastern Council.
Replying to a question from the Trinamool Congress MLA, Th Shyamkumar Singh, the Education Minister said that regularization of Higher Secondary school teachers who were recently upgraded to contract basis from part time is under consideration.
Not satisfied with the answer of the Minister, the MLA expressed that the services of the teachers who have been long suffering for more than 15 years should be regularised at the earliest.
“Sangai count 204 according to March 13 census”
The Forest minister, Th Debendra Singh has today said in the House that the head counts of Sangai at the Keibul Lamjao National Park is 204, according to the census report of March 13, 2013.
He was replying to a question from MLA S Bira Singh today.
Further in his reply, he said that in order to help the Sangai survive longer, the government has taken up plantation of suitable plants for their habitat and employing staffs and other private agencies to guard the animals and organizing awareness programmes and constructing two forest range check post.
Two towers have been erected for tourists to watch the animals however, the tourists are not allowed inside the park as of now, he said.
When asked if there is any provision to fence the park, the Minister replied that there is no such provision as of now.
