Symposium and felicitation held


IMPHAL, May 20: Sahitya Seba Samiti, Kakching under the financial assistance of Art and Culture Department, Government of Manipur conducted a symposium on the topic ‘cultural impact on literature’ at the auditorium of Representative of Loigers (ROL) at Kakching on Sunday.

As a part of the occasion, Prof H Bihari and Kshetri Bira who were selected to hold the posts of Convenor Advisory Board Manipuri Language and Member respectively of Sahitya Academy, New Delhi from 2013 to 2015 were felicitated.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr K Sobita Devi, Director Art and Culture Dept said, "We know that literature, tradition, art and culture cannot separate from each other. Literature is a big tool for tradition of the society. Awards related to culture in the state are given to those who work to enrich literature." Art and Culture department will support those who are making effort to preserve, protect and enrich culture, tradition, custom which are on the verge of extinction, she assured.

Making a mention of how some cultural troupes are showing Meitei Jagoi, she asserted that the true essence of Meitei Jagoi is decorated with poise and delicate, Dr Sobita asserted.

S Bedeshor Sharmar, Secretary Manipur State Kala Academy; and Y Ranjan Singh, President Sahitya Seba Samiti also attended the occasion.
