IMPHAL, May 4: Addressing a press conference at the office of the Women Action for Civic Kangleipak, Mala Lisham Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Thoubal district expressed her dissatisfaction with regard to the inaction of the police following her complaint of being fired upon by an unidentified man yesterday at Thoubal Haokha Maning Leikai.
The press conference was also attended by representatives of the Chingtam United Women Association, Apunba Manipur Ima Lup and Rongmei Lu Phuan of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
Speaking to the media, Mala Lisham alleged that even after she had made a formal complaint with the Thoubal police, the police was yet to take any action.
She claimed that since the assailant was moving back towards Lilong, the Thoubal police could have informed the Lilong police and made the arrest, as she had identified the vehicle’s make and registration number to the police in her complaint.
She further said the police would now only have to trace the owners and take up due process in the case of firing on her.
